Who is Kiyan's companion, the legendary "Nekuz/Nokuz"?

Story 8. Who is Kiyan's companion, the legendary "Nekuz/Nokuz"?

Episode 1. Relationship between Nekuz and Kian

Knowing whether Nekuzu and Kian were cousin brothers or 7th cousin uncle and nephew has become a very important theme in examining the genealogy of the Balhae royal family. Previously, in <Taikh-I Arba' Ulus, 四汗國> , El Cohn's adopted son was said to be "Nukuz". And there was no further detailed explanation of the relationship.

On the contrary, <The Shajurat UlAtrak (genealogy of Turk)>, written by an emperor named Abul Ghazikhan, a descendant of Amir Temur in the land of the Ilkhanate, states, "All of Il Han's sons were killed in this fight. Only the youngest son, Qiyan, survived. Qiyan had married that year. Among the sons of Il Han's brother, Nukooz had married that year."

Another edition, <Turk's genealogy/Tu'rk'un Soy Ag'aci>, wrote, "Kiyan son of Il Han and Nekuz son of his brother entered Ergene Kuhn."

In the above two librarians, Kiyan and Nekuz were found to be cousins.

Episode 2. Nekuz, the relationship between Darlakin and Do Ri-haeng

On the other hand, in <Taikh-I Arba' Ulus, 四汗國>, Professor Kim Ho-dong said, "Nukuz family was called a 'Dharlakin' the clan that arised from the family", which entered Ergene Kun with Kiyan. On page 93 of Professor Kim Ho-dong's copy of translation with notes, "Rashid Aldin said to have been divided into two categories of Mongolians from Ergene Kun: 'Mog'ul-I Du'rilikin' and 'Mog'ul-I Ni'run'. The latter refers to the descendants of the three sons who gave birth after their husbands died, and he explains that  ‘Mog’ul-I Du’rilikin were 'Mog'ul-I a'm', common people"

However, 'Darlakin' refers not to a commoner, but to a person who was in the position of 'king' and a household of his descendants. Darlakin is Do Ri-haeng都利行 the eldest son of 大武藝 Dae Muye, the second king of Balhae  King Mu. The word 'Darlakin' clan is a descendant of the Do Ri-haeng都利行. In 1330, <Tarikh-I Gojide>, written by Hamdallah Qazvin, a Persian historian, called the group of descendants of the figure 'Takuz' as 'Darlakin', which was 'To Li haeng'/to-lihghang' in the 宋本 廣韻 of the dictionary of old Chinese characters . It sounds closer to 'Dorikang' than to today's Dorihaeng. This is very similar to the sound of 'Darlakin'. Mongolians add 'flowing sound' and 'r', which are often added after the first sound of the ethnic name to soften the speech sound, and 'darlakin' is in the form of 'darl-r-ri-haeng'. For example, instead of 'Jurshen女眞' in the afterlife language, Mongolians call it 'Ju-r-r-chen.'

Now, the writer looks at the meaning of 'Dorihaeng', the name of Balhae language. According to the librarian, in Balhae-style Chinese characters, "Prince 王子was called the vice king 副王." Here, 'vice king' can be seen as 'Darihaeng Khan代理 汗= deputy king' which sounds like 'Darihikan' in the old sound, and if this 'Darihikan 代理 汗= deputy king' is written in Balhae-style bilingual, it can be used as 'Dorihaeng'. In other words, it is also the word ' 副王 vice king=duputy king' and it is 'Prince King'. In fact, Dorihaeng was Balhae's '桂樓郡 Gye Rubu’ King' and was the status of his father's 'Darih(代理) King= Deputy King'. This word was later changed to 'Darkhan' and 'Dargachi' in Mongolian, acting as the king's agent in the occupied area.
